About Mimi

Mimi Reaves Instagram

Mimi Reaves is a professional seamstress and an experienced cosplayer. She has always loved to play dress up, so it was only natural she fell in love with cosplay in 2007, debuting her take on Gaz from Invader Zim. Since then she has created numerous costumes such as Babydoll from Sucker Punch, Margaery Tyrell from Game of Thrones, and, one of her personal favorites, Violet Baudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events. While she puts her sewing skills to good use, she is also known for her cosplay modeling. Her unique take on characters is creative, sexy, and fun!

Mimi is featured on many websites, has won several awards, and has been a featured guest at local conventions. She is passionate about bringing her favorite characters to life and inspiring others. Mimi Reaves is represented by Stand-In Productions and the co-founder of The Puttanesca Project and Jolly Holiday Cosplay. Mimi is open to modeling and cosplay contest judge opportunities.

Q&A

Where did you get your costumes? I make most of my costumes right down to drafting the pattern! I find a lot of satisfaction in seeing a project through from start to finish, especially when I get to learn new things along the way. Although, sometimes I buy online and then alter them. It's really nice to receive a ready-made cosplay in the mail from time to time.

Will you make me a costume? Sorry but I don't do commissions as a rule. Sometimes I make costumes for friends, but that's usually as a gift or a favor.

How did you get into cosplay? I started going to conventions when cosplay was still on the rise of popularity, and when I started seeing others attend conventions in beautiful costumes, I decided I wanted to join into the madness. Cosplay inspired me to hone my skills as a seamstress and start sewing professionally in film and television.

Where do you get your wigs? I try to buy from Arda first, since their multi-tonal and non-shiny wigs look the most natural to me. If I can't find what I need from them I usually turn to eBay.
